Public Internet Access

Cities are working with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to provide the citizens with Internet access throughout the city, in parks, malls and open community areas. Varying economic models range from free access to a high monthly fees. NetworkAnatomy Long Haul Wireless is flexible and can be used anytime for events such as festivals, ceremonies, sporting tournaments and concerts providing visitors with real-time information, email and Internet access. Our system includes WIMAX coverages of up to 15 miles, and soon Wireless Regional Area Network (W-RAN) with distances in the 20 mile range. WIMAX and WRAN require little or no wired infrastructure as in past historical short haul implementations of WIFI.

 

Retail traffic

In addition to prepaid cards driving customers to coffee shops and restaurants, retail stores can offer wireless promotions, discounts, and events, thus bringing more foot traffic to their establishments. Using any WiFi or WIMAX enabled laptop or PDA, a visitor could access many of the ‘digital city’ sites that list restaurants, concerts, hotels entertainment, museums and points of interest in the city.

Tourism

Prepaid wireless access cards are being used today to increase the experience of the traveler. Imagine checking into a hotel and being given a free 10 hours of usage Internet card for access anywhere in the city. Retailers can also sell the prepaid cards to customers. Cities are installing visitor kiosks for information and high resolution maps of city amenities. NetworkAnatomy Long Haul Wireless networks connect these kiosks, which can also include real-time language translations for visitors.
